Joined forces to modernize Egypt’s administration processes

MACH is digitalizing public offices – not just in Germany, but also in other countries around the world. The latest digitalization project on the international stage took place in Egypt. Within the scope of the project “Strengthening Reform Initiatives in the Public Administration,” MACH was collaborating with German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the Central Agency for Organisation and Administration (CAOA) to push forward with the digitalization of the country’s public sector.

At CAOA’s headquarters in Cairo, experts from MACH AG, organized several workshops. Their goal: To develop services for the administration workers that enable CAOA to become even more customer-centric, by leveraging process management and methods of innovation. As a result, together with MACH AG, the administration processes were optimized and prototypes for e-government applications were generated, which shall now be developed further.

“The past has shown: Successful e-government begins with a comprehensive analysis of existing processes. These are then optimized and, ultimately, digitalized, or automated wherever this makes sense,” says Christian Rupp, explaining the procedures. He adds: “This includes solutions such as e-files, e-personnel or e-invoices, which are most effective in increasing efficiency. That’s because they simplify the management process and speed it up.”

The project is amazing stakeholders in both Egypt and Lübeck, the headquarters of MACH AG. “An essential requirement is gaining the digital competence needed to use and develop new solutions. We are happy to support Dr. Saleh El-Sheikh and this exciting project for CAOA in Egypt by contributing our process management competence and by sharing our experience won from hundreds of digitalization projects,” says Linda Oldenburg.

This exchange of experience is taking place within the scope of the Advisory Fund for Structural and Regulatory Policy Reforms (FSRP), commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. The framework for the project is provided by the Egypt Vision 2030 initiative. Important pillars of this initiative are transparency and efficiency of state institutions – for the public sector, for leveraging state resources with foresight, for administration that is fair and flexible, and for maximizing the people’s satisfaction.
